As people have already said, the highways were a stop gap. They were put in place when eve was much younger and much less populated. As it is the Empire population has risen enough to fill out the space more,a nd the highways are no longer really needed to keep the market supported and make sure there are enough players everywhere for things to be interesting.
As for your concerns about your corp. Depending on what your focus as a corp is: learn to operate in a dispersed manner, centralize, or get everyone together and move around, nomad style.
I don't know when you started playing, but this is nothing compared to the "good old days." Hehe, think of jumps in the 40s or 50s to get anywhere outside the local regions. You had to, in most cases, travel completely across a region jump by jump to get to the next one. This isn't so bad. Just get a good travel setup, MWD and a mix of nanos and overdrives I would guess for BSs.
Instas just need to be nerfed. Period. I never use them, and I get past gate camps and stuff just fine. Just have to be careful and plan your route. Course, there are occasions, such as when you have no choice but to use an industrial and travel through low sec, that that isn't really an option. That is the only thing I think, needs to be looked at, perhaps a module that helps get you closer to the gate, with an associated skill usable only with certain vulnerable ship types. Regardless of any changes that ned to be made, instas need to be nerfed. Whatever other solution is found instas take a needed element of risk out.
Gate camping is, by the way, a legitamite tactic. The only problem with it is that it has become virtually the only tactic, there need to be some more options for pirates and warring corps. If it were one in a number of options it would be somewhat less prevalent, and I think things would be a lot mroe interesting for both sides. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science (\_/)This is Bunny.
